A tool of our own. A photo of Georgian text goes in; the name of its typeface comes out, from 257 Georgian fonts, with the text read and the script named. ჩვენი საკუთარი ინსტრუმენტი. ქართული ტექსტის ფოტო შედის, მისი შრიფტის სახელი გამოდის, 257 ქართულ შრიფტს შორის, წაკითხული ტექსტითა და დასახელებული დამწერლობით.
The briefᲓᲐᲕᲐᲚᲔᲑᲐ
Every designer here knows the moment: a sign, a poster, a screenshot, and the question which font is this? The well-known font identifiers answer it for Latin letters. For Georgian there was no quick way to get an answer from a picture. ყველა აქაური დიზაინერი იცნობს ამ წამს: აბრა, აფიშა, სკრინშოტი და კითხვა, რომელი შრიფტია? ცნობილი შრიფტის ამომცნობები ამას ლათინური ასოებისთვის პასუხობენ. ქართულისთვის სურათიდან პასუხის სწრაფად მიღების გზა არ არსებობდა.
So we built one: a model trained on Georgian type itself, a reader for the text, and a page anyone can use for free. ამიტომ ავაწყვეთ: მოდელი, რომელიც თავად ქართულ შრიფტებზეა გაწვრთნილი, ტექსტის წამკითხველი და გვერდი, რომლითაც ნებისმიერს უფასოდ შეუძლია სარგებლობა.

Trained it on Georgian typeᲒᲐᲕᲐᲬᲕᲠᲗᲕᲜᲔᲗ ᲥᲐᲠᲗᲣᲚ ᲨᲠᲘᲤᲢᲔᲑᲖᲔ
A neural network learned 257 Georgian fonts, BPG, ALK, DejaVu and many display faces, from about a hundred thousand rendered samples of real Georgian words. Fonts that differ only in name are merged, so the answer is a design, not a file. ნეირონულმა ქსელმა 257 ქართული შრიფტი ისწავლა, BPG, ALK, DejaVu და ბევრი სატიტულო შრიფტი, რეალური ქართული სიტყვების დაახლოებით ასი ათასი ნიმუშიდან. შრიფტები, რომლებიც მხოლოდ სახელით განსხვავდება, გაერთიანებულია: პასუხი დიზაინია და არა ფაილი.

Taught it to readᲕᲐᲡᲬᲐᲕᲚᲔᲗ ᲙᲘᲗᲮᲕᲐ
Tesseract reads the Georgian, a dictionary of 279,000 words corrects its slips, and a second reader takes over for Asomtavruli and Nuskhuri. On display faces, where reading is hardest, it went from 52% to 73%. Built it for a quick answerᲐᲕᲐᲬᲧᲕᲔᲗ ᲡᲬᲠᲐᲤᲘ ᲞᲐᲡᲣᲮᲘᲡᲗᲕᲘᲡ
Drop, paste or photograph, then frame just the words. The answer sits beside the image, each candidate shown in its own letters so the eye can check it. The engine runs on our own server; if it is ever away, the page offers to send the result by email instead. ჩააგდეთ, ჩასვით ან გადაიღეთ და მონიშნეთ მხოლოდ სიტყვები. პასუხი სურათის გვერდითაა, თითოეული ვარიანტი საკუთარი ასოებით, რომ თვალით შეამოწმოთ. ძრავა ჩვენს სერვერზე მუშაობს; თუ ოდესმე მიუწვდომელია, გვერდი შედეგის ელფოსტით გამოგზავნას გთავაზობთ.

It learns only what was checkedᲡᲬᲐᲕᲚᲝᲑᲡ ᲛᲮᲝᲚᲝᲓ ᲨᲔᲛᲝᲬᲛᲔᲑᲣᲚᲡ
Visitors can say a result was right or wrong. Every answer is reviewed before it reaches training, and a new model that scores worse than the one it would replace is refused. ვიზიტორს შეუძლია თქვას, რომ შედეგი სწორი ან არასწორი იყო. ყოველი პასუხი წვრთნამდე მოწმდება, ახალი მოდელი კი, რომელიც წინაზე უარესად მუშაობს, უარყოფილია.

Opened a catalogue of Georgian typeᲥᲐᲠᲗᲣᲚᲘ ᲨᲠᲘᲤᲢᲔᲑᲘᲡ ᲙᲐᲢᲐᲚᲝᲒᲘ
Every font the tool knows has its own page: a specimen, the facts from the font file, and the fonts closest in shape. Only pictures of the letters are published, never the fonts themselves. ყოველ შრიფტს, რომელსაც ინსტრუმენტი იცნობს, საკუთარი გვერდი აქვს: ნიმუში, თავად შრიფტის ფაილიდან აღებული მონაცემები და ფორმით ყველაზე ახლო შრიფტები. ქვეყნდება მხოლოდ ასოების სურათები და არასოდეს თავად შრიფტები.
